Between the celebrations

Around the Fort

There’s space to enjoy the gardens, play a game or take in the sea view during the day, weather permitting.

Garden games

The Fort’s games shed includes croquet and other lawn games.

The beach

A private path from the gardens leads down steep steps to Polhawn Cove. Beach access depends on the tide and weather.

03

Accessibility

Please tell us about any access needs when you RSVP so that we can plan with the venue. A ramped route leads from the end of the car park to the rear entrance. Contact us ahead of the day to agree the best arrival and drop-off arrangements.

04

Driving from Plymouth

You can use the Torpoint vehicle ferry or drive via the Tamar Bridge. Allow for queues and check the latest crossing information ↗ before travelling.

Train and foot ferry

Plymouth is the nearest mainline station. Arrange onward transport to the Fort. One option is the Cremyll passenger ferry ↗, followed by a pre-booked taxi. Check its last return sailing; do not assume it runs late after the wedding.

Useful details

Useful things to know

When should I arrive?

Welcome drinks begin at 2pm and the ceremony starts at 3pm. Please leave enough time for parking and getting settled.

What is the plan for food?

There will be a sit-down meal after the ceremony and simple evening snack food later. Please include any dietary requirements when you RSVP.

What should I wear?

Formal summer wear, no neon please.

Are there steps or uneven paths?

The Fort is a historic coastal building. There are ramps to the rear entrance and ramps can be provided for the garden steps, but bathrooms are not purpose-built accessible facilities. Please contact us before the day so we can check the route and facilities for your needs.

Can we visit the beach?

A private path leads from the gardens to the beach, with a steep flight of steps. Bring suitable shoes if you plan to explore, take care near the coast and supervise children closely. The beach path is not a step-free route.

What is available for children on the invitation?

The venue has highchairs and travel cots, with limited numbers available. Let us know what you need in advance so we can arrange it. Please follow the names on your invitation when replying.

Can I bring confetti?

The venue permits paper or rose-petal confetti outdoors only. Please avoid plastic confetti and don’t pick flowers or greenery from the grounds. Sky lanterns and balloon releases are not permitted.

Is smoking allowed?

There is no smoking inside the Fort. Please ask the venue team about any permitted outdoor area on the day.

Can I bring a dog?

Please check with us before making plans to bring a dog. Although the venue allows well-behaved dogs, we need to agree arrangements for our wedding first.
